Statistical Assistant

NOTE:
This is a TERM appointment (not-to-exceed 2 years ). Term appointments are non-status, nonpermanent appointments of limited duration (more than 1 year but not more than 4). Term employees are eligible to earn leave and generally have the same benefits as permanent employees including health and life insurance, within-grade increases and Federal Employees Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan coverage. Term appointments may be extended without further competition (up to the 4-year maximum). The appointment to a Term position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment. Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Work with research project teams to determine coding conventions, data summary sheets and scoring algorithms for raw data sets. Use statistical computer programs (e.g. SAS, SPSS) and database programs (e.g. MS Access, Excel, SQL, etc.) to construct and manage study datasets and databases. Enter data, develop conventions for managing incomplete data sets, run query checks and resolve edits and out of range values with study teams, documenting all processes. Assist research investigators in project interim analyses. Summarize data in tables and graphs for papers, presentations and meetings. Prepare reports for management review. Apply data extraction techniques from large databases, management of the resulting data sets and manipulating files in a Windows environment. Create summary forms for data coding and data entry, as well as reports for tracking data processes and workload. Perform other related duties as required. Work Schedule:

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-8 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes:
knowledge of the principles and practices of health services research; working with research project teams to determine coding conventions, data summary sheets and scoring algorithms for raw data sets; using statistical computer programs and database programs to construct and manage study datasets and databases; entering data and running query checks; assisting research investigators in project interim analyses; summarizing data in tables and graphs for papers, presentations and meetings; and creating summary forms for data coding and data entry. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
