General Equipment Mechanic

The General Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of many different types of hospital equipment, such as Building Management, Dietetic, Engineering, Laboratory and Nursing. This responsibility includes installation of new equipment, minor and major repairs to existing equipment, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and miscellaneous functions. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Perform incoming and regularly scheduled follow-up inspections of mechanical equipment and medical equipment. Prepare inspection reports and test deficiency reports on both existing and newly installed mechanical and medical equipment. Repair and service both diesel and gasoline engines and equipment. Operate and repair heavy equipment such as skid steers, front end loaders and other equipment as required. Perform hydraulic system repairs, including operating room tables, replacement of pumps, hoses, rams and refilling systems. Perform mechanical repairs to medical lifts/hoists, vehicles including suspension and braking system repairs and replacements, engine fluid changes and replacement of parts. Perform electrical system repairs including electric beds, lifts, hoists and stretchers. Perform welding and reconstruction of lifting arms, scoops and other accessories. Repair and overhaul hot and cold water circulating pumps, vacuum pumps, air compressors, medical gas and vacuum systems and problems of a mechanical nature on air handling equipment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Moderate to heavy physical effort is required due to the size and locations of equipment. Incumbent works from ladders, scaffolding and performs in hard-to-reach places which require him to stoop, stand, bend, kneel, climb and work in cramped, tiring and uncomfortable positions and in work areas that are noisy. He/She is occasionally exposed to the possibility of cuts. He/She is subject to constant standing, and bruises, bending and standing for long periods of time. Frequent muscular effort is also required when incumbent is working on various hospital equipment. Incumbent works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and is exposed to usual occupational hazards. Incumbent is subject to body temperature change by having to work in an extremely cold place and then going to a heated section of the hospital. Incumbent may be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment while performing duties. Must participate in medical surveillance program for respirator usage.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
